Frequently Asked Questions
What size wiper blades does a Ford Telstar take?
The Ford Telstar (AT AV, 1987-1992) takes an 18 inch (450mm) blade on the driver side and an 18 inch (450mm) blade on the passenger side. The same front sizes apply to the Sedan and the TX5 Hatchback.
Does the Ford Telstar have a rear wiper?
The Ford Telstar TX5 Hatchback is fitted with a rear wiper, while the Sedan is not. The rear blade is 21 inches (525mm) and is available as part of a Front and Rear kit for Hatchback owners.
What wiper connector does the Ford Telstar use?
The Ford Telstar uses a J-hook connector on both front wiper arms. The hook at the end of the arm slides through the blade adaptor and clicks into place, so new blades can be fitted without tools.
Is the Ford Telstar rear wiper longer than the front blades?
Yes, the TX5 Hatchback rear blade is 21 inches (525mm), which is longer than the 18 inch (450mm) front blades. Owners should check they have the correct rear length, as a front sized blade will not cover the full rear glass.
How often should I replace Ford Telstar wiper blades?
Ford Telstar wiper blades should generally be replaced every 12 months. As the AT AV is now a classic, owners should also check the arm springs and pivots, which can wear and reduce blade contact on the glass.
