Frequently Asked Questions
What size wiper blades does a Daihatsu Applause take?
From the 1992 facelift onwards, including the Facelift II, the Daihatsu Applause takes a 20 inch (500mm) driver blade and a 16 inch (400mm) passenger blade. The original 1989 to 1992 Applause takes a matched 18 inch (450mm) blade on both sides.
Does the Daihatsu Applause have a rear wiper?
No, the Daihatsu Applause does not have a rear wiper blade. This model is fitted with two front wiper blades only, which can be confirmed in the specifications on the product page.
What wiper connector does the Daihatsu Applause use?
The Daihatsu Applause uses a J-hook connector on its front wiper arms. The blade adaptor slides into the curved hook at the end of each arm and clicks into place, and the same connector is used across all three versions.
Why do wiper sizes differ between Daihatsu Applause versions?
The original Applause uses two 18 inch (450mm) blades, while the Facelift and Facelift II use a longer 20 inch (500mm) driver blade with a shorter 16 inch (400mm) passenger blade. Owners of a 1992 car should check whether it is a pre or post facelift build before ordering.
How often should I replace Daihatsu Applause wiper blades?
Wiper blades should generally be replaced every 6 to 12 months, or sooner if they streak, chatter or leave smears. On an Applause of this age, the wiper arm springs can weaken over time, so it is worth checking that each arm still presses the blade firmly against the glass.
